Breaking silence

Gah! It's been a little too quiet around here the past week and a half. I've been relaxing and enjoying this unplanned vaca before things get a little busy. I'll be posting pics soon! In the meantime, here are some cheesy thoughts to make you smile.

Things I love about being a woman

  • Busting up stereotypes

  • but admitting I need help squashing that spider on the floor.

  • Feeling comfortable with the hips I recently developed

  • because you know what, they come in handy for toting around a kid.

  • taking risks, but also being very aware of where I am and what I am doing.

  • lipstick and messy out of bed hair

  • kissing the man I love square on the lips in public

  • having baby soft skin and freshly painted toenails

  • wearing sweats all day and something dainty and lacy at night.

Ally

swaying to the rhythm

I find it's hard to catch your step when you stumble and life changes its tune on you. Truthfully, I've felt a little off balance throughout most of it. I've saved face by rocking back and forth, swaying to an unexplored yet beautiful new song.

Yesterday I realized how far we've come. Brantlee was playing in his room by himself; Tim, reading at his desk while I was hovering over a fabric mat cutting out new patterns. I deemed it pajama day, since we didn't leave our jammies until early evening.
ATTN NEW MOMMIES: It gets easier. Brantlee is 15 months old and this age is so much fun and he has learned to play (make a mess) on his own. I giggle every time this little guy runs to a radio, turns on the music, and begins to dance. Even as babies, music is in us.

We have grown so much through these clumsy steps. I was reminded that the second you let go, you can rediscover your rhythm. Tim reminds me that it's still okay to be clumsy. We are lucky enough to have amazing people surrounding us and sway with us while we find our beat. He and Brantlee both remind me that life can be oh soooo good - full of beauty, when you stop dragging your feet and glide with your flow.

Welcome Friends!

I am new to the blogoshpere, but I hear it's the biggest thing since sliced bread. So here we meet. I love journaling and bringing life to a blank piece of paper. In a way, I guess this is a public journal - a way for me to keep family and friends informed of my husband's (Tim), my one year old son's (Brantlee), and my own, day-to-day adventures. I do not consider myself computer savy. Tips? Advice? I would love to hear from you. Email me: lovally at ymail dot com.
Love is a word you will read often on this blog (hence the name). I will write mostly about what is tugging at my heart's strings and the projects I am working on. It will include the inspiring people I laugh with and make me who I am. Oh! I can't leave out the stories of my two-foot-tall boss who happens to look a lot like this handsome fella I am married to.
Me in a nutshell: I am a sushi-loving coffee-drinking wild-about-vintage crafting nerd; a reader who also camps, kayaks, hikes, and SEWS; and a goal-setting list-maker who is trying to balance work, school, and the family I adore.
I have big dreams for my family. Hopefully this made you smile and you will stick around to find out more about our journey.
Love,
Ally
